Gwyneth Herbert – www.gwynethherbert.com

Strikingly original performer, award-winning composer and lyricist and musical adventurer Gwyneth Herbert comes to the The Old Market Assembly, in one of the last chances to catch her before she leaves for her summer tour of North America.

With one foot in the jazz world and the other somewhere in the future, Gwyneth has released 6 critically-acclaimed albums (including the first UK Blue Note release in 30 years), toured across the world and shared stages with Boy George, Amy Winehouse and John Cooper Clarke.

She has also presented for BBC Radio 3 and 4; co-created three musicals and a feature-length art film; opened the London and Montreal Jazz Festivals; performed on BBC’s The Great American Songbook and her own film score at the British Film Institute; and had her arrangement of a Swahili folk-song performed by 100,000 children at once.

Gwyneth will be appearing with boy-wunderkind Ned Cartwright in her unique multi-instrumental duo, featuring vocals, ukulele, french horn, piano, saxophone, percussion, melodica and cheese-grater. Expect tales of wild sea-drenched sirens, jaded seaside hotels, East End vagrants, loves and losses, drinks and whores… and the occasional Swahili singalong.

Sennen Timcke – www.sennentimcke.com

Sennen’s shows are dynamic, engaging and deeply heartfelt.  Sennen says: “Honest songs about truth, love and the questioning of the head and heart – plus girls, being skint and drinking too much”.

Sennen has recently paired up with the soulful vocals of Claire Ji.  Echoing the spirit of Johnny Cash and June Carter, they combine luscious harmonies with upbeat rhythms to create folk-infused music that will lift your spirits.

Miss Cecily – www.misscecily.co.uk

Folk singer, cabaret chanteuse, lady of jazz… an itinerant musician with many voices and a gypsy heart.  She’s been a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 New Songwriter competition, performing with a handful of other finalists at a Radio 2 showcase hosted by Janice Long.  She also received a special mention from KT Tunstall for her entry for The Shure Creative Award.

She’s graced many stages including Glastonbury, Shambala, Secret Garden, and Rocket festival in Spain.  In 2012 she bravely toured from Bristol to Edinburgh on her bike with guitar and amp in a trailer!  Busking and gigging at every stop along the way.  Her last album “The World’s Still Big Enough” was a beautiful debut. Now based between Bristol and Valencia, she’s currently working on a new album set for release in 2016.

Saskia Maxwell – soundcloud.com/saskia-maxwell-music

Saskia Maxwell is an enigmatic and captivating singer songwriter from Cornwall, whose eclectic style mixes jazz and folk. She has gigged extensively for the last 4 years performing at some very prestigious venues and festivals around the UK, and has supported the likes of Brother and Bones, Rae Morris, JP Cooper and Rachel Sermanni.

Saskia has just released her 3rd EP ‘Dancing With The Night’ which is available to purchase online or at her gigs.

“Imagine Billie Holliday, Joni Mitchell and Amy Winehouse on a three day bender, road tripping across the United States in a Chevy. Well, that is the sort of atmosphere this lady’s music provokes”
